Privacy Policy

I am a Freelance Solicitor regulated by the SRA, whose non-regulated limited company is Paperweight Legal Ltd (‘I, ‘me’ or ‘my’). I am the controller of personal data obtained via my website, www.lifescienceslegal.co.uk meaning I am legally responsible for deciding how and for what purposes it is used.

Please read this privacy policy carefully as it contains important information on who I am and how and why I collect, store, use and share any information relating to you (your personal data) in connection with your use of my website. It also explains your rights in relation to your personal data and how to contact me or the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's regulator, in the event you have a complaint.

I may collect and use certain personal data about you. When I do so I am subject to the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR). 

Given the nature of my website, I do not expect to collect the personal data of anyone under 18 years old. If you are aware that any personal data of anyone under 18 years old has been shared with my website please let me know so that I can delete that data.

This policy only relates to your use of my website, www.lifescienceslegal.co.uk 

You can also link to third-party websites, such as LinkedIn and GoDaddy, via my website. These third-party websites may also gather information about you in accordance with their own privacy policies, which you should also read.

The personal data that I may collect about you as you navigate my website is limited and depends on how you interact with my website.  It may include:

• your name and contact information, including email address, telephone number and company details;
• details of any information, feedback or other matters you share with me;
• your professional online presence (eg LinkedIn profile); and
• information about the services I provide to you.

Depending on the services that I provide to you, I may also collect and process additional kinds of personal data about and for you, including special category personal data. Where this is the case, relevant data processing contractual terms will be in place.

I may collect personal data about you in the following ways:

• From you when you give me your personal data when you enquire about my services or provide information or feedback to me, either via email, telephone, social media or by submitting an enquiry via my website, and
• From publicly accessible sources, such as Companies House and LinkedIn;

Under data protection laws I can only use your personal data if I have a lawful basis to do so, such as compliance with my legal obligations, with your consent, to perform or in preparation of a contract with you (at your request); or for my legitimate interests. My use and lawful basis for the use of your personal data is limited to the provision of services to you, maintenance of your details as a client, promotion of my services, and enforcing my legal rights or defending or undertaking legal proceedings.

Cookies are small text files placed onto your device when you access my website. If you choose to accept Cookies, my website provider, GoDaddy, will use those cookies to collect aggregated, non-identifiable user data which analyses website traffic and optimises your website experience.  

I may need to share your personal data with third parties, such as my professional advisors, external auditors, law enforcement agencies and regulatory bodies, who will be bound by obligations of confidentiality.

I do not foresee any circumstances in which I will transfer your personal data outside of the UK.

I will not keep your personal data any longer than I need it for the purpose for which it is used.

I have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in any unauthorised way, altered or disclosed.

You have a number of rights available to you under data protection laws which are explained in detail on the ICO website. These include the right to access, correct and delete your personal data.
